Bad Girls Don’t Die by Katie Alender
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was a fantastic read! The main character, Alexis, is a unique and fresh take on strong, female leads. She’s definitely not your average YA female lead. If likening main characters to candy, most female YA main characters would be milk chocolate. Alexis is not milk chocolate. Alexis is pop rocks. She fizzles where other characters just melt. And she has pink hair.
I’m definitely a wuss when it comes to scary books. Inspired by the character Rachel on “Friends”, I believe the freezer is for two things: ice cream and scary books. This book has just enough haunted basement, possessed doll, sister exorcism elements to be sufficiently spine-tingling while maintaining a level of grounded realism that brings you back into the safe sunshine.
On to the sequel: From Bad to Cursed!
