So, it’s late, and I have a rapidly approaching deadline, think somewhere in the neighborhood of a few hours. I’m a third of the way through, wishing I could magically be done, and what am I doing? Why, I’m taking silly writing quizzes online, of course!
I found a really nifty writing style analyzer, that I hear is fairly intuitive, that will take your writing and compare your tendencies with other, more famous writers, and tell you who you’re most like. SO… I posted the first chapter of the third Autumn book, “Autumn in the City of Light”, and this is what’s told me.
Now, as a life-long classic scifi nut, I’m truly, TRULY happy with this result (because we all know how reputable and accurate internet quizzes are!). It could have told me I write like anyone… Doctor Seuss even! But I got the late and great Arthur C. Clarke. What a treat!
For those of you who aren’t as familiar with this master of scifi, he’s one of the “big three” of classic science fiction, penning such classics as 2001: A Space Odyssey (which, GASP! I happen to like even better than the movie!) and a major influence on the kind of writing I do now.
So, now that I have a little boost in my step from being told by a completely unreliable source that I have small similarities to one of my heroes, I’m heading back to work with a Venti Iced Non-fat Raspberry Mocha and a Krispy Kreme donut in hand.
Much love,
Howell
